Ask Dot: What caused the El Tejado II fire?

We were wondering what caused the fire at the El Tejado II restaurant, will the owners be rebuilding and, if so, when?

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the El Tejado II restaurant that burned down on Dec. 18, 2005 will be rebuilt at the same location, according to Michael Gonzales, assistant manager at the El Tejado I on Broadway in Denver. He said construction will probably begin in six months.

As for the cause of the fire, it is still undetermined at this point, according to West Metro Fire spokeswoman Michelle French. She added, however, that there was no indication that this was an intentionally-set fire. She also confirmed that the El Tejado II restaurant is being planned to be rebuilt. "Last we heard, the owners are planning to rebuild and are right now going through the insurance process," she said.
