Garbage no-go
Contributed by: Mary Edgar on 6/30/2006

In January of this year I, along with a few neighbors, signed up with a garbage disposal company named Discount Disposal, paying for a full year in advance.

Our usual pickup day is Wednesday. Today is Thursday at 4 PM and the trash piles still sit in our driveways!

There was no holiday to influence this pickup and we have not received a phone call from this company explaining why no pickup. When the company is called a message says "The mailbox belonging to Discount Disposal is full".

Has this company folded and we're all out the remaining 7 months payment?

Same situation in Centennial-I called their phone number and it has been disconnected-I contacted Waste Manangement and they confirmed that they can pick up the same large containers discount used- For whatever its worth I had them for about 2 years and they usually gave very good service-often they would return bin from strreside to adjacent to my home-oh well-wonder if I can blame this on Bush

I just received a letter in April asking pre-paid customers to pre-pay for the following year a couple months early...geez, I wonder why. Now I'm out $100 for services that were to begin July 1. So Randy I'd be happy to send my information to you, but would like to know more about who you are and what exactly you'll be doing. I don't want to be an idiot twice and I don't know anything about you. Thanks.

they are out of bussiness. 9news reported it ( http://www.9news.com/acm_news.aspx?OSGNAME=KUSA&IKOBJECTID=278fe03f-0abe-421a-011a-6a5388e5da61&TEMPLATEID=0c76dce6-ac1f-02d8-0047-c589c01ca7bf ). about a third of my neighborhood has this company. we also paid a year in advance. so now every other house has a heap of garbage in front of it. about the only thing that you can currently do is file a complaint at www.denverbbb.com. if anyone hears anything more about the situation, more than 9news reported, please let me know, rfoley22@yahoo.com

Hi Mary and Greg! I am in the same situation. The BBB vmail states to file a complaint with them. Greg, how did you find out they officially went out of business? I will start contacting attorneys to find out what our next steps should be. Cindy
