No on 2A

8 members of the Lakewood City Coucil what you to permanently (forever) waive your right to decide whether or not they can keep and spend more of our tax dollars.

The ballot language is worded to imply that if we vote no, then Lakewood can not accept Jeffco Open Space grants or SCFD grants. This is not true.Accepting the grants is not the question. The question is whether or not the combination of the grants and other taxes might exceed the TABOR limits on tax revenues. Lakewood can not know until after the end of the year whether the combination of the grants and other taxes exceeds the TABOR limit or not Reason: the state of Colorado does not release the calculation until after the end of the year.

The real question is the part about permanently exempting grants from TABOR. If you vote YES, you will forever give up your right to decide whether or not you want Lakewood to keep and spend the excess taxes. The 8 councilors will tell you they want you to vote. This is true. What they don't tell you is that they don't want tyou to ever vote again on this issue.

Please preserve our right to decide. Vote NO on 2A
