Lakewood, Co- For immediate release
It's back to school time for thousands of kids in Jefferson County Colorado, home to Video Professor, Inc. But an uncertain economy is making it difficult for kids to return to school with the necessary school supplies they need. There just aren't enough dollars to go around even for the basics of back to school.
Working with the Jefferson County Action Center, Video Professor Employees launched a week-long school supply through their employees club, Seasons. The drive netted a station wagon jammed full of school supplies.
"It never ceases to amaze, but never surprises me, of the generosity of our employees," says
John W Scherer, CEO and Founder of Video Professor, Inc. "In just a week they collected dozens of bags of pencils, notebooks, backpacks, calculators and all the necessary supplies to start the school year off the right way for a lot of very deserving kids."
Jefferson County Action Center Executive Director
Mag Strittmatter told Video Professor VP of Public Affairs,
Brian Olson that more than 500 kids were lined up at their distribution center on Aug. 4 and that she expected over 3,000 kids to be helped with supplies donated by the community.
Video Professor Seasons Club members work with the Jefferson County Action Center on a regular basis. Their next project will be a holiday food drive prior to Thanksgiving. As soon as that project winds up, employees begin work helping out Santa for the annual Salvation Army Angel Tree Project.
Bettye Harrison, President and COO of Video Professor is an active Seasons Club Member herself. "We wish we could solve all the problems that exist in this world," she says but adds "We believe as a team if that everyone gives just a little, together we can accomplish a lot."
"We encourage our fellow businesses here in Jefferson County along with clubs and organizations to support the Jeffco Action Center," says John Scherer. " They're wonderful neighbors and friends of ours and are helping so many people who need a hand up, not a hand out."
