KUMASI, Ghana -
Video Professor has come to Ghana. The US based company, Video Professor Inc., has donated over $1000(USD) in ICT educational software to the Suame Magazine Industrial Development Organization (SMIDO).
Based in Colorado, Video Professor has been a leader in self-paced computer learning software tutorials for over 21 years. The core aim of the company is to provide user friendly learning solutions for the most commonly used computer software. John W. Scherer, CEO and Founder of Video Professor, Inc, said that the company is "happy to participate with donations for programs involving computer literacy and education" and to "support the worthy efforts" of SMIDO.
SMIDO is the official development unit of Suame Magazine, the largest informal artisanal industrial cluster in all of Ghana and West Africa. SMIDO offers customized ICT training to the Magazine community through its Suame Magazine Automatics Technical Institute (SMATI) initiative, which aims to provide artisans with ICT skills that they can put to use in their personal and professional lives.
"We are very grateful for the support of Video Professor," noted SMIDO President George Asamoah Amankwa. "The donation of these tutorials will greatly improve the quality of education at SMATI and assist artisans in acquiring ICT skills that they can use in their professions."
Development Planner Nyaaba-Aweeba Azongo, Head SMIDO Consultant, echoed the Presidents thoughts: "The impact of this donation cannot be understated...Improving the livelihoods of Suame artisans and lowering instances of poverty are helped significantly by the support of a partner such as Video Professor."
