Rockley's in Lakewood a family biz
Contributed by: Karen Groves /YourHub.com on 12/30/2007

Rockley's Music in Lakewood may be the oldest operating business in Lakewood, according to vice president Liane Rockley.

"I think we are, since Scatterday's Lumber closed," she said.

Tobin Rockley said, "We're one of those places where you hear people walk in and mutter, 'Isn't this the store that's been around forever?'"

What started as an appliance store at its original location at Colfax Avenue and Wadsworth in 1946 is well known at its location at 8555 West Colfax.

Liane said, "We moved everything in the store during a remodel in 2002."

The 26,000 square foot building opened in 1955 and is home to 100 pianos and is arranged according to instruments, thus the guitars are grouped with guitar music and accessories. Likewise the piano music is next to the pianos.
