Lakewood's "Professor" featured on FOX News®.
Contributed by: Brian Olson on 4/11/2008

John W. Scherer, CEO & founder of Video Professor Inc, is on television frequently. When he's not on the air doing commercials, he's often seen doing news interviews like he just did in New York City on both the " FOX Business Channel" and the " FOX & Friends®" program.

About the only thing similar between a commercial and a television news broadcast is the television part. Other than that, everything is different. Commercials are scripted taped and if you make a mistake you get to do it all over again.

News on the other hand is live, which really makes it exciting. While it was Scherer's first appearance on the new "FOX Business Channel," this was his third time on "FOX & Friends."

As usual, " FOX News" takes great care of its guests. Everyone on the staff including producers, the technical crew and of course the various program hosts and anchors are simply the nicest and most professional people you'd ever want to meet. They even send cars to pick their guests up from the hotel and take them to the studio.

"FOX Business Channel" is a recent addition to "FOX News." Scherer said that they've assembled a terrific team of people and are quickly becoming the television source for business news. He believes that what makes "FOX Business Channel" stand out is they really understand they are communicating with both Wall Street and Main Street, USA. They make business news easy to understand regardless of whether you own a business or you're a consumer.

Each appearance starts with a trip to make-up. Then you wait for your segment to begin in the green room. It's a comfortable place to sit and watch the broadcast, have a snack or a much-needed cup of coffee if you're appearing on an early morning news show. Usually other guests are there as well so it's also a good place to meet people.

When your time has come, one of the staff takes you up to the studio, a microphone is clipped on you and all of a sudden you're live. It's amazing how fast it happens. When Scherer shoots Video Professor commercials and infomercials he and his team can spend two full days shooting different segments. But when it's live, you better be ready with your message because you get just one chance to get it right.

Scherer said what made the experience both easy and fun was the anchors at "FOX News." He was a guest with Peter Barnes on "FOX Business" and his friends Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy on "FOX & Friends," plus he was thrilled to meet Gretchen Carlson for the first time. Scherer said they are exactly like you see them on the air; friendly, energetic and gracious.

Scherer said, "FOX News" really does live up to its reputation of being a fair and balanced news source. He said what makes them special, is they are a group of kind, decent and caring professionals.

Scherer extends special thanks to David Brown, the Executive Producer of "FOX & Friends," along with "FOX News" producers Laurie Weiner, Elise Sabbath, Michelle Brier and Shayla Bezdrob.
