50 families place desposits at Solterra
Contributed by: Pam Bales on 3/10/2008

LAKEWOOD - It was two weekends more reminiscent of the mid-1990s when folks stood in lines to grab new homes in communities across the front range than a weekend in the midst of 2008's challenging real estate market.

Carma's new Solterra community saw more than 350 people turn out the past two weekends for a chance to talk with builder partners and put down deposit checks to be one of the first to live in this unique neighborhood. The three Solterra builders collected a total of 50 deposit checks.

"We are pleased with this enthusiastic start to Solterra," says Tom Morton, Carma Senior Vice President in charge of U.S. operations. "There has been a pent up demand for new luxury housing in Lakewood and Jefferson County. We believe Solterra is a world-class solution to that demand."

Inspired by the hill town communities of Tuscany, Italy and Andalusia, Spain, Solterra is a master planned community by Carma, located along C-470 between I-70 and Morrison Road. It is also the host of the 2008 Parade Homes, produced by the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver.

Solterra's builders include Cardel Homes, with homes priced from the $500s; Infinity Home Collection , priced from the low $600s and Wall Custom Homes estimated from $780,000 to the low 900s.

Views from the stunning "Retreat at Solterra" include world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater and its towering outcroppings. The tower of The Retreat already beckons to commuters along C-470 and will be the focal point of the community as it unfolds over the next several years.

Carma is the 50-year-old, respected developer of more than 80 master-planned communities across North America, and has its U.S. headquarters in Englewood.

Anyone interested in securing a deposit within Solterra should visit www.mysolterra.com for more information. More than 1,400 people already have shown interest in the community via the web site.

Also of note is the unprecedented view and sound of Bandamere Speedway. This is not a screed against Solterra. I hope they are successful in selling ALL of the homes. I just hope that, when they do, they do not get sued for failing to mention the noise.
