Three Jeffco Public Schools teachers were honored Sept. 23, at South West Plaza Mall at the fifth annual, "2006 My Teacher, My Hero" awards ceremony.
The event honors three teacers each year for extradinary work in the classroom. The teachers are nominated by their principals.
This year's honorees are Becky Bradley, Jeffrey DeBuhr and George Dinwiddie.
Ms. Bradley has taught music for 27 years at Kendrick Lakes Elementary and is billed as the school's "Program Queen," because she strives to include as many students as possible in up to six different programs each year.
Mr. DeBuhr teaches 7th and 8th grade math at Evergreen Middle School, and also coaches Junior Varstiy boys basketball. A colleague of Mr. DeBhur, Lori Ranney, said of Mr. DeBurh, "he's able to make special connections with Middle School students at at time in their lives when that is very difficult."
Mr. Dinwiddie, a 20-year veteran, who has taught grades 5 thru 12, is currently teaching algebra, honors trigonometry and calculas at Columbine High School. Mr. Dinwiddie also has received the Boettcher Foundation's "Excellence in Educaiton Award."
