Gene 'problem' benefits Foothills Elementary
Contributed by: William Bond on 9/29/2006

Dean Gutmueller, assistant office manager at Home Depot, describes it as a gene problem -- he's missing the gene that says he should be doing something else on his day off.

Instead, he and about 20 other "Team Depot" members from the Lakewood and Golden, Home Depot stores, and several PTA volunteers, spent Friday afternoon, Sept. 29, building planter boxes, power washing and painting playground equipment, planting flowers and generally sprucing-up the grounds at Foothills Elementary in Lakewood.

" I enjoy it," says Dean. Dean explained that community service is one of the core values of Home Depot, and it's one of the reason he likes working there. The two Home Depots donated over $1,400 in supplies, while local grocery stores and restaurants donated breakfast and lunch items to fuel the hungry crew.

Marge Clark another member of "Team Depot" said the reason she donates time is "for the warm fuzzies."

Foothills Principal, Barbara Donahue said "It's a huge contribution to our school. The kids are excited, the parents are excited. It's huge."
