Alameda Kids and Teen Clinic to open
Contributed by: Jeffco Schools on 4/8/2008

From the flu and allergies to sports related injuries and headaches, the new Alameda High School Kids and Teen Clinic, 1255 S. Wadsworth Blvd, will open its doors next week to a broad range of ailments. The community is invited to an open house on Tuesday, April 8 at 5 pm. to learn more about the center.

The new Kids and Teen Clinic is a primary health care facility located within the Alameda High School grounds. Services at the clinic will include routine physical exams and screenings, treating minor injuries, diagnosing and treating illnesses, immunizations, prescriptions, and mental health counseling.

The Clinic is designed to serve students whose access to care is limited, including children who are uninsured or underinsured. The clinics also help give students with health insurance easier access to health care. Year-round medical care is provided by Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

"The opening of the clinic will help students be more successful here at Alameda." said Dr. Shirley Algiene, principal at Alameda High School.

The Alameda High Clinic is a joint project of the Jefferson County Public Schools, Jefferson County Public Schools Medicaid and Homeless Outreach Program, Metropolitan Community Provider Network, and Jefferson Center for Mental Health.
