With performers from local middle schools, high schools and independent guards performing in indoor pageantry in association with the WGI Sport of the Arts. Winter Guard is an indoor pageantry activity that involves an array of equipment, movement, and skill. Flags, rifles, sabres and other props are utilized to bring music and themes to life while displaying technique, creativity, and expression. Competition is separated into six classes based on the complexity of the program and if the color guard is affiliated with a school (29 scholastic) or a independent unit (8 independent).

This season the Association hosted a WGI Regional competition in Broomfield. Twenty-nine winter guards from Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Minnesota performed. The 2007 Denver Regional was held on March 17, 2007 at Legacy High School, the program was very successful. Next year the Rocky Mountain Color Guard Association will have the opportunity to host the 2008 Regional, plans are in the works for another great contest.

The 2007 season concludes at the new Broomfield Event Center on March 31. This competition the pageantry activity is at its best. With corporate sponsorships, community support and proud parents of the participants, we hope to fill the complex.

From here some of our units will travel and be part of the WGI Sport of the Arts World Championships, which in its 30th year of existence as the governing body for the competitive winter guard and indoor percussion activities. The "Sport of the Arts" offers a unique blend of artistry and athleticism and is a leader in the pageantry/performs arts community. The city of Dayton will serve as host for the WGI World Championships for the 21st time. Color Guard World Championships will be held April 12-14, 2007 at the University of Dayton Arena.
