Youth Leadership Jefferson County (YLJC) has announced enrollment in its 2008-2009 Class. Applications and brochures describing the program are available at
www.westchamber.org/lead-yljc.asp, or by calling 303-233-5555. YLJC is an innovative program designed to develop the leadership potential of high school students who live in or attend schools in Jefferson County.
This program gives students a chance to interact with community leaders and institutions, explore career and educational options, experience leadership through hands-on activities and broaden their perspectives on a variety of community issues. The program focuses a different aspect of the community during full day, monthly sessions (September through May). Each program day highlights a leadership concept and is designed to provide real world experiences through multiple approaches.
This year's participants included students from Alameda, Lakewood, Bear Creek, D'Evelyn, Jeffco Open, Wheat Ridge, Chatfield, Green Mountain, Columbine, Pomona, Ralston Valley, Arvada West, and Conifer (see photos).
Youth Leadership Jefferson County is a program of the
West Chamber Serving Jefferson County Foundation and is supported primarily by a grant from
The Jefferson Foundation and by other grants, business sponsorships, and individual donations.
The cost of the program is $100 per participant (need based scholarships are available). For information please call The West Chamber Serving Jefferson County at
