South Union Gallery's December featured artists

Our Featured Artists in December at the South Union Gallery, Saundra Lane Galloway and Kathy Berls, have a similar approach to their art. Both artists love to paint florals and still life work, using bright colors and high contrast with lots of rich shadows. However, there is a great different in their finished pieces.

Saundra works in acrylic on a very small scale. Her paintings show an intimate look at everyday subject matter. In addition, she is a creative crafter, lending her talents to hand painted furniture and one-of-a-kind hand-sewn items such as purses and bags.

Kathy works primarily in oil on large canvases, carefully planning out the entire composition. She loves multiple layers of color and high contrast from dark to light values.

Both women are art instructors: Saundra teaches middle school art in Littleton, while Kathy currently oversees the Thursday open studio lab at the South Union Gallery. In addition to serving on the Lakewood Arts Council's board, Kathy and Saundra volunteer their time on the City of Lakewood's visual arts committee.
