Lions and tigers and bears....and more!
Contributed by: Barbara Benik on 8/23/2007

People and animals just naturally go together - at least that was the opinion of the Lakewood Arts Council when organizing its current exhibit at the South Union Gallery. The show includes over 150 works created by local artists depicting all kinds of animals and people to fit the theme of "Figures and Creatures".

Visitors of all ages will delight in what they find in this wonderfully diverse exhibit. Some works will make you laugh such as the third place winner "Captive", a digital photograph by Charlie Casper. Others will amaze you with their incredible detail as found in James Faulkner's second-place winning oil painting of a pair of wolves in the snow. The first place winner depicts a sense of intimacy and relaxation as we view two figures enjoying "Breakfast at the Cafe", beautifully rendered in pastel by artist Ginger Lecher.

The show continues through Sept. 21 with viewing hours of 10-5:00 Tues-Friday and 10-4:00 Saturday & Sunday. The South Union Gallery is located at 85 S. Union Blvd, Lakewood. For additional information call 303-980-0625 or visit www.lakewoodartscouncil.org
