East Meets West at South Union Gallery

A popular, long-running exhibit starts off the new year at the Lakewood Arts Council's South Union Gallery.

Sponsored by the Lakewood based organization Mountainside Art Guild, the 30th Anniversary Collection of the "Views of the East and West" includes more than 120 original works by local artists. The exhibit will be on display through Feb.2.

The artists' interpretations of the theme are varied and cover a wide range of media. Best of Show was awarded to Golden artist June Davis for her pastel titled "East Meets West" It is a glowing still life of both western and eastern pottery. Second place went to another Golden artist Jane Christie for her colorful rendition of a barn titled "Topsy Turvy." Arvada artist Jan Archuleta received third place for her watercolor "Doumen Reflections," which was the result of her recent trip to China. Additional awards went to Lakewood artists Carolyn Belfor, Kathy Berls and Lynnette Kupferer and to Golden artist Charlie Casper.
