2008 "Ollie, Ollie Oxen Free" Story Slam
Contributed by: Sunny Marie Hackman on 2/29/2008

Top storytellers vie for 1st Place, $100 cash; 2nd place, a full paid admission to the Rocky Mountain Storytellers' Conference; and 3rd prize, a storytelling class or private coaching from professional storyteller, Susan Marie Frontczak.

At the 3rd annual "Ollie, Ollie Oxen Free" Story Slam,10 storytellers, called "Hayshakers," each tell a 5-7 minute story in honor of Elm Farm Ollie, the first cow milked while flying in an airplane. Storytelling is oral art. Imaginations take flight, along with Ollie. Sunny Marie Hackman (Lakewood) and Cheri Seeton (Golden), creators of the story slam, are fond of saying, "Of course, all stories told at the slam are true but didn't neccessarily happen!"

The slam is expanding this year with a Youth Division for students ages 12-18 in the afternoon of the 29th of March. The adult slam starts at 6 p.m., March 29. Tickets are $15 and include a $10 gift card to the Whole Foods Market/Belmar. The event takes place at the Lakewood Heritage Center, in the historic schoolhouse. Whole Foods Market and the Lakewood Heritage Center are proud sponsors of the event.

For more information or for tickets, contact Sunny Marie Hackman at 303.233.7901 or Cheri Seeton at 303.279.2419.
