Lakewood's Summer Concert Series: Sounds Exciting!
Contributed by: Rhetta Shead on 4/4/2008

Summer comes alive with the Ninth Annual Sounds Exciting! Summer Concert Series. An eclectic mix of musicians will perform Wednesday evenings from June 25 through July 30 at the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Amphitheater at Lakewood's Heritage Center in Belmar Park, 801 S. Yarrow St. Enjoy a casual, family-friendly atmosphere with a variety of musical styles ranging from a tribute to "The King" to hot Salsa.

This year's featured national acts bring high energy music, rhythm and dance to the stage with Buckets and Tap Shoes; and jazz and pop standards, showcasing Canadian vocal sensation Sophie Milman.

In her mid-20s, Sophie Milman's 2004 self-titled debut has sold almost 100,000 copies worldwide, hit the Billboard Top 5 in Canada and the Top 15 in the United States, and topped the iTunes jazz charts in five different territories.

A highlight of the 2008 concerts, Buckets and Tap Shoes -- a unique company of musicians, percussionists and rhythm tap dancers -- has astounded audiences, creating intense driving rhythms with 5-gallon buckets, metal cans, barrels, found objects and tap shoes.

The 2008 series schedule includes:

June 25 The Hazel Miller Band

Lakewood favorite and Colorado legend

July 2 The Indulgers

Irish rock music

July 9 Conjunto Colores

Colorado's hottest Salsa & Latin Jazz Band

July 16 Endre and the Living Vision Band
