Contributed by: Lakewood Community Arts, Music & Events on 2/5/2007

Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 S. Allison Parkway, has unveiled "Past Faces, Familiar Places: Two Exhibits of 20th Century America" titled"Kitchen Goddess" and "Faces of Creativity."

The Kitchen Goddess---a juried exhibit from the Women's Caucus for Art, Colorado Chapter---features several works under the theme of the mid-20th century modern housewife or "Kitchen Goddess." The show runs through March 23 at the Lakewood Cultural Center North and Mezzanine galleries.

Faces of Creativity examines the work of George Pickow, who chronicled the American arts and music scene through black and white photography. During his career Pickow photographed more than 400 record albums featuring musicians such as The Platters, The Righteous Brothers, Pete Seeger, John Denver and Arlo Guthrie as well as painters Edward Hopper & Thomas Hart Benton and poet Carl Sandberg. The show runs through April 27 at Lakewood Civic Center's South Gallery.
