John Loengard, renowned LIFE Magazine photographer and photo editor, will be in Denver for an exclusive show and sale of his works on Friday, November 11 from 5:30 – 8:30 in Cherry Creek North at GALLERY M where his work is currently on display and for sale through January 31. Included in the show are signed, modern gelatin silver prints from Loengard’s original negatives of movie stars, writers, politicians, as well as, everyday people engaged in a host of activities. All photos are rendered unforgettable and compelling by the photographer’s vision. Loengard began freelancing for LIFE after graduating from Harvard in the late 1950’s; he then joined the staff in 1961. His assignments lead him to diverse parts of the country and subject matter including memorable essays on Georgia O'Keefe, the Shakers, the Vanishing Cowboy and many world leaders. After LIFE was discontinued as a weekly, Loengard became a member of Time Inc.'s Magazine development group as People Magazine’s first picture editor in 1974. When LIFE was resurrected as a monthly in 1978, Loengard was selected as LIFE’s seventh photo editor and remained in that position as well as an official photographer until 1987. Today, Loengard remains active in photography capturing images that receive accolades from critics worldwide. He has authored books including award winning, Pictures Under Discussion, Celebrating the Negative, and Georgia O'Keeffe at Ghost Ranch. His book, LIFE Photographers: What They Saw was named one of the year's top ten books by the New York Times. GALLERY M is the exclusive gallery representing Loengard’s photography in the rocky mountain region; those interested in meeting Loengard, on November 11, must reserve a time by calling 303.331.8400 extension #5. Interested parties can also view his work online at gallerym.com. Gallery M is located in Cherry Creek North at 2830 E. 3rd Ave.
