"Consider yourself at home, consider yourself part of the family", belts Angelica Farago, age 15, of Golden, Colorado, in this summer's Colorado Actors Company and Theatre School, located in Arvada, Family and Friends production of Oliver. Angelica, playing the part of Dodger, encourages Oliver, an orphan and played by Raif Henning, age 11, of Lakewood, to joining the "family" of pick pocketing children. Raif attends Dennison Elementary. Other actors include Bethany Krebs, age 18, of Denver who plays Nancy and Paul Leavitt of Golden, plays Fagan.

Speaking of family, this summer marks the 9th anniversary of the Colorado ACTS Family and Friends production. How befitting to present the Dickens' timeless tale of Oliver, which gives the message of love, caring, and family. Characters will struggle with the forces of good and evil. This production has a cast of 57 with ages ranging from 6 to 52. Colorado ACTS offers some 20 classes/productions through the school year for students ages 5-18. Once school is out, entire families can get into the act. These family productions began in 1999 with Cinderella and were performed at Colorado Christian University. Other Family and Friends productions have included Anne of Green Gables, Annie, and HONK!-The ugly Duckling.

Larry and Susan Coates along with their daughter Angela, age 16, and son Greg, age 13,of Arvada, appeared together last year in HONK as a family of swans. Larry and Susan had never appeared in theatre before but were encouraged by their daughter Angela to join her and brother Greg during a summer production. According to Susan, "It was a lot of fun and out of our comfort zone. We were not going to do the Oliver production but the kids really enjoyed the experience last year and wanted us to do it again?. Susan further stated, "If you are looking for a fun, summer family project, this is it!" Larry is playing Mr. Brownlow, who takes Oliver in, and Susan plays a milk maid in the town square. Daughter Angela plays Mrs. Sowerberry, the wife of the undertaker, and brother Greg is playing Noah, the apprentice undertaker.

Colorado ACTS began 10 years ago and offers theatre classes to children 4-18. The school's mission is to bring quality children's drama education to the local community. Discipline, self-confidence, and belonging to a community are a few of the many benefits of theatre education. Gabriel Nixon, age 9, and who has special needs, will be joining the Oliver cast this summer. ACTS offers opportunity to people of all ages and abilities.

Please consider yourself part of our family this summer and watch this fun-filled cast present this heart warming story on August 4,5,11,12 at 7 pm and August 12 at 2pm at the First Baptist Church located on the corner of 14th and Grant.
