The BCHS Holiday Craft Fair: A Rockin' Tradition !
Contributed by: Teresa Weinkauf on 11/20/2007

On Saturday, December 1, 2007, a Lakewood tradition will once again take place; the 14th Annual Bear Creek High School Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair, located in the halls of Bear Creek High School, 3490 S Kipling St.

This craft fair is one of the best and most popular events in the Lakewood area. Sponsored by the Bear Creek High School Instrumental Music Parents (BCHSIMP), and instrumental music director Tammy Ahmed, this fundraiser benefits the instrumental music program, allowing the purchase of instruments, new uniforms, music copyrights, and more. It also helps pay for special band and orchestra events not included in the school curriculum, such as State and County Honor Band, Honor Orchestra, State Solo & Ensemble, as well as allowing the marching band to participate in 5A marching competitions during the fall season. Thanks to our generous supporters, and fundraisers like these, we placed 11th overall at the CHSAA Colorado Bandmasters Association State 5A Semi-Finals in Ft. Collins this year!! What a great enrichment program for our talented kids!

This is a fun, festive event run entirely by our volunteer parents, and students. There are 89 booths, with 85 crafters this year, and a wide variety of entirely handmade items to choose from for your holiday shopping. You will find clothing, fine jewelry, home decor items, foods, Christmas and holiday decorations, novelty gifts, and more, priced to fit any budget. If you can't find something unique and special here, you won't find it anywhere!

And that's not all! In addition to our talented crafters, we have strolling student musicians, face painting, gourmet coffee by our Bear Creek POMS Team; BearWear by our Bear Creek PTSA (for all you BC football fans, GO BEARS!!); free balloons for the kids; fresh kettlekorn; a door prize giveaway every half hour; and a full concession stand.

The fair runs from 9 am to 4 pm, with plenty of free parking around the school. Entry is at the north cafeteria doors, and at the rear of the school off the junior parking lot on Girton St. Admission is $2.00 at the door, with kids under 5 free. The fair is handicapped accessable.

Come rock the holidays with us, and get some holiday shopping done! The BCHSIMP thanks you for supporting our students.
