On Saturday, Feb. 23, "The King" will make an appearance for the benefit of 23 horses who have had rough lives. At the 4th Annual Horse Protection League (HPL) Casino Night, families will enjoy an Italian dinner, gaming with play money, and a performance by renown Elvis impersonator,
Bob Girres
.
Dedicated HPL volunteers are excited to host this annual event to raise money to care for the horses. Day in and day out, rain or shine, there is a team of hard working volunteers attending to the needs of horses who have faced starvation, neglect, abuse, and even the slaughter house.
HPL Barn Manager
Emie O'Neill
says, "We have no paid staff. We function only with the generosity of people who give their time and talents to our rescue. They work countless hours every day of the year so Casino Night is a fun evening to gather, raise the funds we need, and celebrate our success."
For 12 years, HPL has nursed dozens of horses back to health and adopted them into loving homes. The HPL mission, to contribute to the welfare of horses, is accomplished with tireless dedication and rewards the volunteers in profound ways.
"To see an emaciated horse, on death's doorstep, be transformed into a healthy, vibrant, happy spirit, brings great joy and meaning to our lives," one volunteer said.
Whether it's a teenage girl getting the horse she has always wanted, or a nice guy who needs a new companion for his beloved goat, The Horse Protection League doesn't just rescue horses, they fulfill dreams.
To meet the horses, you can visit HPL on Wednesdays from 9:00am to noon, and on Saturdays from 9:00am to 2:00pm. The Horse Protection League is located on historic Churches Ranch, 17999 W. 60th Ave., Golden, CO 80403. 303.216.0141, www.cohpl.org.
Join us for 4th Annual Casino Night on Sat. Feb. 23, 6:00pm -11:00pm at the Denver Kicker's Club, 16776 W. 50th Ave., in Golden.
$15 per person, $45 a family
It's a great family fun night and it's all to benefit the horses!
