One of the Denver area's most venerable and successful theater companies will hold a large Gala at the Columbine Country Club on July 12. A fundraiser and theatrical extravaganza for the Main Street Players and Ovation Players, the gala features stars of past musicals as well as scenes from two of it's current shows,
Eleemosynary and
A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. One of the featured performers, multi-talented
David Wygant who plays Pseudolus in
Forum, is new to the Denver area.
Rare talent to perform at gala
Wygant recently got his Ph. D. in Fine Arts from Texas Tech while performing multiple roles in theater (both musical and dramatic), commercials and film/television. With his broad talent he has performed Shakespeare (
King Lear, playing Lear) as well as a wide array of favorite musicals (
Damn Yankees,
Company, Anything Goes).
Allan Liebgott, producer of David's latest show, says, "we are extremely lucky to have had a talent like David drop like a gift into the theatre community in Denver and Littleton...he keeps us in stitches during rehearsals, and his music is wonderful."
At the gala, Wygant, along with other
Forum cast members will perform some of the show's signature numbers including
Comedy Tonight and
Everybody's Got to Have a Maid. Main Street Players and Ovation Players founder and award-winning director and actress,
Annawyn Shamas, (who also is playing a lead in
Eleemosynary) has called the gala at the Columbine Country Club a "must-see" event. Dinner is included in the evening of theater called:
A Date With The Stars. Tickets are $45. Reservations can be made at 303-979-3738.
