Dance your way to fitness
Contributed by: Daryle Hise on 1/9/2008

Is your new year's resolution one of 'getting more exercise'? How about one that reflects your interest in learning something new - you know, keep that brain exercised? Did you make a resolution to get out more and meet some interesting people?

If any of these are on your list, we have a fun answer to all of them! Why not try taking some square dance lessons? It's not what you think - the old-fashioned 'swing your partner, grab your gal' type of dancing with the large bouffant skirts, has given way to much more modern dancing. Gals wear anything from long straight skirts to minis, with some still wearing the frilly things. The guys wear anything from western to your normal tee shirts. And the music? Have you ever heard of Chicago's "All that Jazz"? How about some good old Elvis?

Rollin' Wheels Square Dance Club is starting its next lesson series on Jan. 28 th, continuing on Monday and Thursday eves, from 7-9 pm. Lessons are 10 weeks, after which, you will be doing everything naturally, enjoying new people, keeping your brain active, and definitely getting plenty of exercise! Lessons are open to singles and couples, and each lesson is $5 per person, with the last dance thrown in free, if you pay at the beginning.

So come on over to Wheat Ridge Grange, Monday evening, Jan. 28 th at 7 pm. 3850 High Court. (Thurs. lessons will be at Christopher House at 6427 W. 38 th, and you will be given a map at the first lesson.) So, be good to your body - and yourself! You will be so glad you did!
