For the second consecutive week, Colorado's flu activity has been described as widespread by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). More than 100 people have been hospitalized from the flu and doctors expect to see many more cases in the months ahead.
A flu shot is the single best way to prevent flu. Flu season generally peaks in March, as it did in 2007, so a flu shot now will still protect you. In fact, the CDC recommends that everyone, from age 6 months and older, be vaccinated for the flu.
Flu shots are available at the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. VNA is located at 390 Grant Street in Denver. For more information, call 303-698-6378 or visit
