GMCA holds Easter Egg Hunt
Contributed by: Lee Flower on 4/14/2006

The Easter Bunny stopped by for a early visit at Foothills Park when Green Mountainside Civic Association (GMCA) held its annual egg hunt on April 8. Every year, GMCA, a completely volunteer neighborhood association, holds an egg hunt for all of the neighborhood children. GMCA encompasses about 1100 homes on the south east side of Green Mountain.

This year about 100 kids set a record short time in finding every egg in the entire west side of Lakewood. The turnout this year was the largest GMCA has seen in the last couple of decades, perhaps an indication of more young families moving into the area, or maybe it was just the great weather we had that weekend.

The Easter Bunny made an appearance to hand out chocolate eggs and to take picture with the kids. The children all had a great time and it was a pleasure to be a part of the event.

Lee, these are great photos of the egg hunt. I especially like the kids running because their faces show their sheer determination to find those eggs!
