Blog Entry 4 of 51 The Lakewood Lowdown
Hi, I'm Erin Feese, a community journalist here at YourHub.com.
As journalists, we are always seeking to uncover the newsy, the exciting, the weird and the heartwarming stories going on around us. The greatest part of YourHub.com is that you can be the one to tell your story. In this blog you'll find highlights of the Lakewood and Edgewater sites, as well as the musings of your friendly neighborhood journalist. So go ahead, uncover what's going on around you, and don't be afraid to share what you find.

Sweet, sweet love -- Get your Valentine's fix
Contributed by: Erin Feese/YourHub.com   on 2/13/2007

My boyfriend, Gabe, and I went to the same high school, but we never really knew each other until we were introduced by a mutual friend. We didn't click right away, but about four years later, when we both happened to be living in the same place, we started dating. We've now been together more than a year, and it's great. I guess some things just take time to fall into place.

I'm a firm believer in the power of fate and that some things things are just "meant to be." We here at YourHub.com has been asking our users to submit stories of how they met their significant others, and hearing from you guys has only reinforced my belief. Here are your stories:

Congrats to Sarah and Rob Billerbeck, who were chosen as having the best story and winners of the romantic getaway. Rob shared the story of how the two met on a cross-country road trip. She had a flat tire, he stopped to help, and the rest -- well, you'll just have to read it.

Cynthia Schmitz's story proves that despite the cliche, people do find true love at a bar.

Despite having all but given up hope, Chrisann Winiecki found her true love in the sweetest place -- a candy shop.

Sharon Ruby's story shows that persistence pays off -- and that high school love can last for 45 years.

Online romance is possible -- just ask Kelli Barton.

Volunteering your time for a worthy cause can also lead to love, as Jennifer Guy's story illustrates.

Phyllis Joslin's tells everyone about her fateful fender-bender, "I had to run into him to get his attention!"

Olympic athlete Jeff Olson felt like he won the gold when he met the woman of his dreams in the Fench Alps.

Other Valentine's posting to check out:

For those not feeling the lovey-dovey smoochie-ness of the season (hey, I've totally been there), read Lauren Harvey's column on why Valentine's Day should be renamed " Singles Awareness Day."

If you're a chocoholic like me, you'll enjoy t his blog by local chef Lilly Allison. She even includes a tasty recipe on how to work chocolate into your next dinner.

And, to read about some affection of the canine variety, see Robert White's column about two dogs he had as a kid.
