I posted the following story here exactly one year ago today. I'm not necessarily posting it for contest reasons but just because when I read it again it still put a lump in my throat. I just want everyone toknow how much I love my wonderful husband.
I love you honey.
...after eight years. I'm still wondering if I sold my soul to the devil in another life to have this great blessed one in front of me. What did I ever do to deserve this? I'm one of those lucky few. You know the one that claims it was '
love at first sight'.
The first time I ever saw you I knew you were theone. Really, really, truly, truly. Everything ceased to exist and only you were there...playing foosball. Me with my friends, you with yours. And after a long exaggerated night of flirtatious glances you walked over to my table. Finally! I found outy ou were fresh out of the arine Corps. Hot Dog! I hit the jackpot! I always told my dad I would marry me a Marine. Largely in part because he, along with his brothers, were all Marines. This was looking really good! We talked and talked but I don't remember having much in common besides music. And that was a-ok with me! As long as I just got to look at you. What evolved from that first glance I never could have dreamt would happen to me. But it did and oh, how we grew up. Eight years, three boys, a dog and a mortgage payment later I
still
get butterflies when I look at you...just like that first time I saw you. I still boast about what a great husband you are to EVERYONE! I almost want to cry sometimes when I see you with the boys because your the father I always wanted them to have. I feel so proud (and safe) as I see you accomplishing your goals to provide a bright and secure future for your family. You've taken initiative to do what needs to be done so that I can stay home and raise our boys. And I feel an enormous amount of pride when my friends and family tell me how lucky I am to have found you. And I say 'I know...' and all I can do is thank God and hope I didn't sell my soul. What did I ever do to deserve this?
