This is our old school on the corner of Alameda and Harlan in Lakewood, Colorado. In 1946 the school was built to educate combined students from Washington Heights and Bancroft.
What a beautiful place for a school and what a beautiful school it was. It had a great view of the mountains from the 2nd floor which added heart to our school. It was the only high school around the small community from west 6th Avenue to Morrison Road . The closest school was Lakewood High School. From Green Mountain to Harland Street on Alameda there was only one building I can remember, strangely enough, The MonVu Village (now Garrison Street Station, now being renovated). I remember from Harlan west to Green Mountain and south to Morrison Road, scattered country living off the highway. The school now has been replaced with a beautiful ballpark but the history of this beloved school and the fun we had together will always be a part of the present. With few exceptions, the open land is now occupied
For the class of '56, this is your 50-year reunion. Since the classes were small, 52 and 69 students respectfully, the classes of 1956 and 1957 will celebrate in a combined reunion on August 11-12, 2006. The agenda is as follows: Friday, August 11, both classes will celebrate with a dinner at The Den located at Fox Hollow Golf Course and Saturday, August 11, a golf tournament at Homestead Golf Course. Reservations need to be made for these activities by May 15, 2006.
An all school dinner is planned for Saturday, 8/12 at Table Mountain Inn in Golden at 6 p.m. An all school picnic is planned for Sunday, 8/13, 12-5 p.m. Morris Park, 20th and Carr St.
