Lakewood's Kendrick Lake Park
Contributed by: Larry Andersen on 3/18/2006

For a jog, walk or just to escape the couch, Kendrick Lake Park is always a peaceful scenic meditation.  The park offers joggers, walkers and camera bugs an urban sanctuary in the middle of Lakewood, Colorado.

The lake is set against the panorama of the Rocky Mountains and the lake is a natural environment for sun fish, migratory waterfowl, native Colorado birds, squirrels, as well as frogs, snakes, and snapping turtles.

The City of Lakewood manages the park and has provided an excellent path around the lake for jogging. It even has milestone markers to know how far you've walked or run. There is a nice picnic area, an excellent playground, a rock garden, and  many benches line the lake to gaze at its reflection in shaded or sunny areas. I have seen on occasion, fisherman fishing on the banks for sunfish and blue gill.

It makes one appreciate the planning of this lake on behalf of the community to be a place where one can retreat to contemplate the better things in life.

I highly recommend a visit, if you have not already and if you have, sneak away for a run, a walk or just sit next to the lake to appreciate its rapt beauty.

A great place to go for a morning or afternoon interlude.

Kendrick Lake Park is located near Old Kipling Road on Jewell in Lakwood, Colorado.
