On 10/10/2008
Contributed by: Patricia Kannenberg on 10/19/2008

Rand Kannenberg from Lakewood was the first addiction speaker and trainer to give lectures on substance use disorders and mental illness in all 50 U.S. states. He also saw thousands of court ordered clients for substance abuse assessments and treatment. After accomplishing this record breaking feat on 9/26/08, he closed his company, Criminal Justice Addiction Services in Lakewood, on 10/1/08. On 10/10/08, more than 120 people celebrated Rand's retirement at the Marriott Denver West in Jefferson County. In honor of Rand, $2,512 was raised for the West Pines Recovery Center Patient Scholarship Fund. Jane Tomaro was the event planner for the party. Music was provided by Lara Jean O'Connor, pianist; and Eric Bartram, guitarist and singer. Shannon Guenther was the photographer, and Jefferson County Sheriff Deputy Danny Cruz provided the security. Rand now works full time in the Emergency Department at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center and on the Recovery Center at West Pines, both in Wheat Ridge.
