Lakewood students spell success

It's spelling bee season, and wordsmithing competitions have been held all over the district. The Lakewood Area Spelling Bee held Feb. 21 at Creighton Middle School had students from five elementary and middle schools participate.

Congratulations to the students who placed in the competition: First-place winner Daniel Tsvankin (Creighton Middle), second-place Logan Watters (Belmar Elementary), third-place winner Helen Grenillo-Weaver (Slater Elementary) and fourth-place winner Austin Franklin (Slater). Tsvankin will represent the Lakewood area in the state spelling competition March 22 at the Denver Convention Center.
