Western area power administration names COO

Western's Administrator, Tim Meeks, announced the selection of Dr. Anthony Montoya as the agency's new Chief Operations Officer. Montoya currently is the Assistant Regional Manager for Power System Operations for Western's Desert Southwest Region located in Phoenix Arizona. He previously served as manager for Power Marketing, Engineering and Construction, and Engineering in the Desert Southwest Region. He began his Western career in 1982, as an engineer at the then Headquarters Office located in Golden, Colorado. As an engineer, Montoya was responsible for studies associated with Western's application of the world's first electronically controllable high voltage capacitor bank.
Montoya's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy degree in public administration from Arizona State University, a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado School of Mines. He is a graduate of Lincoln High School in Denver.

Montoya takes over his new duties May 14, 2007 and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Montoya Sr..
