Jefferson County announced April 14 that it has promoted John Wolforth to assistant planning director of the Planning & Zoning Division. In this position he will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Planning & Zoning Division, including special project coordination, general budget review and management activities.

"I am particularly excited to have John in this position because it shows our employees you can grow and succeed within our organization," said Development & Transportation Director Tim Carl. "John embodies a 'can-do' philosophy and is a true problem solver. In his new role, he will handle broad planning matters and work to create successful outcomes."

The assistant director will work directly with other internal and external agencies to help facilitate customer service, efficiency and streamline review processes. This position also will work closely with the Planning Commission on land use matters and will directly report to the Development & Transportation Director.

Wolforth had been serving as the planning administrator where he managed seven planners, in addition to two support staff. He has been with the county since May 2000 where he started as a Planner I. He has a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and a Master's degree in Planning from the University of Colorado.
