Incidents reported by Lakewood Police

FLAT TIRE BANDITS STRIKE LAKEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL
Three Lakewood High School students were arrested on suspicion of criminal tampering after letting the air out of several cars' tires as part of a senior prank. At 11:06 p.m. April 5, an officer working security for a dance at the school, 9700 W. Eighth Ave., was contacted by a student who said the air had been let out of her tires. On the windshield there was an envelope with "Flat Tire Bandits" written on it and a note that said, "I owe you 75 cents." The school's band truck also had its tires flattened April 4. While reviewing security footage, police saw two male teens let the air of the truck's tires and leave in a Subaru station wagon. Police tracked down the student who drove the station wagon. He reportedly admitted to flattening the tires on five or six vehicles and said it was the best senior prank the school has ever seen. Upon further investigation, three other male students were found to be "flat tire bandits." The students told police it started as a way to teach a lesson to underclassmen parking in the senior lot. The students were booked and released to their parents.

MOM GETS IN ON SCHOOLYARD FIGHT
Police were called to Brady Exploration School, 5290 W. Ohio Ave., at 12:17 p.m. April 9 on a report of a fight involving two students and a parent. A 19-year-old student had reportedly told a 16-year-old student not to disrespect his girlfriend and spit on him, and a scuffle ensued. The 16-year-old's mother was picking him up from school and saw the fight. According to witnesses, she took an active role in the fight by encouraging her son and took a swing at the other student. The students and the 57-year-old Denver woman were issued summonses on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

MAN TAGS ALONG FIRST AVENUE
Police were called to the 5800 block of First Avenue at 2:56 p.m. April 10 on a report of a man writing graffiti. When police arrived, the suspect began to run until he was ordered to stop. The man eventually admitted to tagging a mailbox, street signs and a utility box with a gang moniker. The 18-year-old Denver man was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief and lodged at Jefferson County Jail.
