Incidents reported by Lakewood Police

ROAD RAGERS GET IN CONFRONTATION
At 1:46 p.m. April 25, a police officer in a parking lot at 7667 W. Jewell Ave. was contacted by a 19-year-old Littleton man in regards to a road rage incident. The man told the officer that he was driving his Honda north on Kipling Parkway when he was cut off by a Ford Explorer just north of Highway 285. The man then got in front of the SUV and "brake checked," causing the Explorer to swerve into the median to avoid colliding with the Honda. The driver in the Explorer then began to chase the Honda in his vehicle east on Ashbury Avenue. According to witnesses to the incident, both cars were going fast, screeching their tires and neither stopped at the stop sign at West Ashbury Avenue and Oak Street. Police contacted the driver of the Explorer, a 53-year-old Lakewood man, who confirmed he had been involved in an altercation with "some kid in a little red sports car." The Lakewood man said he followed the car because he wanted to talk to the young driver to explain how dangerous it was to drive that way. The Lakewood man reportedly admitted to running the stop sign and said, "But I slowed and looked both ways." Both drivers were issued summonses on suspicion of reckless driving.

POLICE INVESTIGATE CATS LEFT IN CAR
Police responded to Motel 8, 7240 W. Jefferson Ave., at 7:30 a.m. April 25 on a report of cats in a vehicle in the parking lot. The officer counted nine cats in the car, which was filled to the roof with items, leaving a very small area for the cats to move around. Although the cats had access to food and water, the officer told the cat owner's husband that this was not an appropriate way to house cats. The officer returned to the car at 2 p.m. to check on the cats. The officer determined the temperature inside the car was 94 degrees even though the outdoor temperature was 55 degrees. The cats' owner, a 38-year-old Littleton woman, arrived and put the cats inside another car. She refused to tell officers where she was taking the cats, saying it was "confidential." The woman was issued summonses on suspicion of nine counts of neglect of animals.

EMPLOYEE BUSTED FOR ELECTRONICS THEFTS
Police were called to Sears, 10785 W. Colfax Ave., at 3:20 p.m. April 24 on a report of an employee theft. The loss prevention manager told police that security footage showed an employee take a digital camera without paying. When the manager confronted the employee, he also admitted to taking an Xbox. The 27-year-old Arvada man was issued a summons on suspicion of petty theft.

YourHub.com collected these reports from area police and sheriff agencies. All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
