MAN TRIES STEALING COOKING OIL FOR FUEL
At 11:20 p.m. May 1, police observed a man who appeared to be dumping something behind the Best Taste Buffet, 7665 W. Jewell Ave. When police contacted the 36-year-old Lakewood man, he said, "I'm stealing oil, and I am armed." Police confirmed the man had a concealed weapons permit for his gun. The man told police he was behind the restaurant getting used cooking oil to convert into fuel. The man said he has tried to get permission from other places to get their oil but was unsuccessful. The man was used a summons on suspicion of petty theft and released.
DISORDERLY MAN DISRUPTS PARK
Police were called to Lasley Park, 6677 W. Florida Ave., at 4:39 p.m. May 5 on a report of a disorderly man in the park. The man was reportedly being loud, using vulgar language and challenging park-goers to fight. When police arrived, witnesses pointed out the 30-year-old Lakewood man hiding behind some evergreen trees. When police contacted the man, it was obvious that he was intoxicated. He told police he had drank "Two pints ... of beer that is." As police asked him questions about what happened in the park, he became agitated and was handcuffed. Once the handcuffs went on, the man became increasingly angry. The man repeatedly said he "hated the (expletive) police" and would "kill all of them" when he got out, even though police told him he was just going to detox and would not be charged with any crime. When the man was being transported, he banged his head on the passenger-side door of the police car, causing about $200 in damage. Police then arrested the man on suspicion of criminal mischief and detox refusal. He was lodged at the Jefferson County Jail.
PETCO EMPLOYEE SUSPECTED OF STEALING
A 42-year-old Petco employee was arrested on suspicion of theft at 2:28 p.m. May 1. A loss prevention manager at the store, 160 Wadsworth Blvd., told police she suspected the 42-year-old Littleton woman had been performing fraudulent cash returns due to suspicious cash register records. The approximate amount stolen was $562. The woman was given a summons and released pending further investigation.
YourHub.com collected these reports from area police and sheriff agencies. All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
