Cops ask for help locating shooting suspect
Contributed by: Lakewood Police on 5/23/2008

Detectives from the Lakewood Police Department are asking for assistance in locating a suspect in a shooting that occurred in their city.

Shortly before 3 a.m. on May 18, Lakewood police agents responded to the area of S. Fenton St. and W. Bayuad Ave. to investigate reports of possible shots being fired.

When agents arrived, they found a 17-year-old male at a residence on S. Fenton who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The shooter had fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

Detectives have since obtained an arrest warrant for 23-year-old Manuel Gilberto Luna (02-04-85) who is believed to have been the shooter. Luna had been at the residence earlier and was involved in some type of an argument and/or assault. It is believed that he returned with a handgun and confronted the 17-year-old male outside the residence, before the shots were fired.

A photo of Luna is attached. He is considered to be dangerous and may be armed.

Anyone who has information about Luna or his whereabouts is asked to call the Lakewood Police Department at 303-987-7111.
