Police blotter: Beer stolen during armed robbery

BEER STOLEN DURING ARMED ROBBERY
The report of shots fired during an assault brought police to West Colfax Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard at 11:57 p.m. May 23. A 36-year-old Denver man told police he was assaulted by a group of males, who stole a 12-pack of Budweiser he had just purchased and fired two shots at him when he tried to run away. The man had injuries to his face from the attack. The group of men then sped away in a truck. Edgewater police pulled over the truck at Colfax Avenue and Xavier Street. Three men and two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery. Police found a handgun, a bag of cocaine and a 12-pack of beer in the vehicle. The men were lodged at Jefferson County Jail and the juveniles were transported to Mount View Youth Services Center.

POLICE INVESTIGATE LOUD PARTY
At 3:05 a.m. May 25, police were called to an apartment complex on the 200 block of Zang Street on a report of a loud party. Two men spoke with the officers, a 22-year-old Golden man and a 21-year-old Lakewood man. Both men refused to give police their names and said they were just having a good time, and that the leaseholders of the apartment weren't home. The 22-year-old became hostile toward officers and said, "This is (expletive), we are just tying to have a good time after coming home from school, (expletive) the (expletive) who keeps calling the police." The 22-year-old was taken to the ground and handcuffed after a brief struggle. Officers had to push the 21-year-old away after he was told multiple times to back away from the arrest. He was arrested on suspicion of obstructing governmental operations. The 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Both men were lodged at Jefferson County Jail. The resident of the apartment, a 20-year-old Lakewood man, was issued a summons on suspicion of making unreasonable noise and underage possession of alcohol.

MAN BRANDISHES KNIFE
Police were called to 6796 W. Colfax Avenue at 10:46 p.m. May 21 on a report of menacing involving a knife. A 38-year-old Denver woman told police she was walking eastbound on Colfax Avenue with her 21-year-old son and 18-year-old daughter when a man passed them and gave her a strange look. The 21-year-old son said, "Are you ok? Why are you looking at my mom and sister like that?" The 60-year-old man said, "What? You're just a punk," and brought out a knife with a 5-inch blade. The 21-year-old began to run and the older man chased him welding the knife. Police located the 60-year-old man at Lamar Street and West 14th Avenue. He was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and lodged at Jefferson County Jail.
