Incidents reported by Lakewood Police
MAN REPORTS UNWELCOME VISITOR
At 10:16 p.m. June 17, police responded to the 12700 block of West Virginia Avenue on a report of an unwanted person. Police spoke with a 51-year-old Lakewood man who said a woman who he recently broke up with had been repeatedly calling him at all hours of the night and waiting outside his home. That evening, the 48-year-old Lakewood woman came over at 9:50 p.m. and refused to leave and tried to enter the man's house from the backyard before he called police. Police contacted the woman via phone and told her to stay away from the man. About one hour later, the woman returned to the man's backyard. When police contacted the woman, she said, "I just wanted closure." The woman was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence-related harassment and second-degree criminal trespassing and lodged at Jefferson County Jail.
BRAWL BREAKS OUT IN PARK
At 6:24 p.m. June 20, Edgewater Police requested assistance for a situation at Walker Branch Park, 1650 Harlan St. When Lakewood police arrived, officers observed several people in the park screaming, and two Edgewater police officers attempting to resolve the situation. Three females were wrestling on the ground as an Edgewater officer was placing one of them into custody. Lakewood officers learned disorderly conduct had occurred between several people in the Lakewood area of the park. Several people received tickets for disorderly conduct, and Edgewater transported four individuals for disobeying and resisting arrest. Lakewood police spoke with a 46-year-old Lakewood man involved in the incident. He said was sitting at a picnic table when he observed a man start hitting another man in a wheelchair. The Lakewood man said he didn't think that was appropriate, so he went over to help the man in the wheelchair and was tackled by a bunch of girls. The fight continued until police arrived. The 46-year-old was issued a summons on suspicion of disorderly conduct.
