Police blotter: Women argue at tanning salon

Incidents reported by Lakewood Police

WOMEN ARGUE AT TANNING SALON
Police responded to Cabo Sun Spa, 98 Wadsworth Blvd., at 2:17 p.m. April 15 on a report of a disturbance. A 43-year-old Arvada woman was waiting for police outside the tanning salon with her 19-year-old daughter. The mother said her daughter used to work at the salon and wanted to pick up her final paycheck, but the employer was making it difficult. The 29-year-old Lakewood woman came outside and yelled that she had mailed the check and for the mother and daughter to leave. Police had to separate the 29-year-old and the 43-year-old as they continued to yell at each other. After talking with police, the employer agreed to write a check once she verified the one she mailed had not been cashed. Police gave the 19-year-old her check and advised them not to return to the business. As they were leaving, the Lakewood woman's father and owner of the business, a 53-year-old Lakewood man, came running up and demanded that police issue summonses for disturbing the peace. When police advised him that both the 43-year-old mother and his 29-year-old daughter would be cited, he replied, "I don't care. You will do your job, my taxes pay you to do it, and write the ticket." Both the Lakewood woman and the Arvada woman were cited on suspicion of disorderly conduct. As the Lakewood woman signed the summons, she said, "Thanks a lot, Dad."

MAN CITED TWICE FOR LOUD MUSIC
Police were called to the 7000 block of West Cedar Avenue at 1:05 a.m. April 19 on a loud noise complaint. When officers knocked on the door, the music was shut off but the occupants refused to answer. At 3:40 a.m., police were again called to the residence. A 29-year-old Lakewood man was issued a summons on suspicion of unreasonable noise. He told police he was playing his music loud to bother his neighbors. Police returned to the residence at 4:20 a.m. and could hear music from the street. The man was again issued a ticket for unreasonable noise. He continually stated, "That's cool, that's cool," in response to everything police said.

MAN TRIES TO DUCK CAB FARE
The report of a man refusing to pay his cab fare brought police to West Eighth Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard at 11:20 p.m. April 16. The cab driver said he had picked up two men in Denver and brought them to a business park at 747 Sheridan Blvd. The man who had ordered the cab said he did not have any money on him and tried to get the cab driver to come inside one of the buildings. The driver refused, fearing for his safety, and called the police. When police contacted the man and asked why he didn't pay the fare, he said when he got to his destination he realized he didn't have any money and went inside to see if he had the $35, which he did not. The 27-year-old Wheat Ridge man was issued a summons on suspicion of petty theft.
