Police blotter: Drunk man goes to wrong house

Incidents reported by Lakewood Police

DRUNK MAN GOES TO WRONG HOUSE
Police were called to an apartment complex on the 11200 block of West 20th Avenue at 9 p.m. April 22 on a report that an unknown male was banging on a woman's front door. Police discovered a 27-year-old Lakewood man lying on the landing of the stairs leading to upstairs units. He was mumbling and appeared intoxicated. The man said he was in front of his house and gave the unit number, which was located in another part of the complex. The man began arguing with officers when they told him he was not in front of his residence. The man had used a fire extinguisher to bang on a 48-year-old woman's door. The woman, who does not open the door for people she does not know, became frightened and called police. The man was issued a summons on suspicion of criminal mischief and lodged at detox.

WOMAN HITS BOYFRIEND WITH CAR
Police were called to West 12th Avenue and Simms Street at 1:30 a.m. April 24 on a report of a woman hitting her boyfriend with her car and taking off. The 28-year-old Englewood man told police he was arguing with his girlfriend while they were parked at the 7-11 near 8th Avenue and Simms Street. Not wanting to argue in front of their 2-year-old daughter, the man got out of the car. When his girlfriend began to drive off, he began to run after the car. The car pulled into a parking spot and then accelerated forward, causing the man to tumble over the vehicle. The man had several abrasions on his knees and arms and was transported to St Anthony Central Hospital for treatment. When police located the 25-year-old woman, she said she thought he was leaving when he got out of the care and that she stopped when she saw him running after her. The woman said the man jumped onto the hood of the car, smashing the windshield. The woman was arrested and lodged at Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence, second-degree assault and child abuse since her child was in the car during the incident.
