DRUNK MAN TAKES DIP IN KENDRICK LAKE
A 36-year-old Lakewood man was cited on suspicion of disobeying a posted sign after police discovered him swimming in Kendrick Lake, 9351 W. Jewell Ave., at 5:44 p.m. May 24. The man was extremely intoxicated and continually exclaimed, "I swam in the lake!" A sign on the southwest corner of the lake prohibits swimming or wading. The man was lodged in detox.
WOMAN LIES ABOUT IDENTITY
While on patrol at 1:05 a.m. May 20, an officer observed a green Nissan with plates that did not belong to the car. The officer pulled over the vehicle at West Fifth Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard. After getting the names of the female driver and two male passengers, the officer went to check his computer. One of the male passengers got out of the car and started running. He was taken into custody after a brief pursuit. The 37-year-old Lakewood man was found to have several warrants for his arrest. The officer noticed the woman's driver's license picture did not match her, and the woman admitted it was not hers. After providing another false name, the woman admitted she had a warrant and did not want to go to jail. Police discovered several IDs for different names in the vehicle. The 30-year-old woman was transported to the Jefferson County Jail where she was lodged on an outstanding warrant and several traffic and criminal charges.
CIGARETTE THIEF RUNS FROM SECURITY
Police were called to King Soopers, 7984 W. Alameda Ave., at 2:40 p.m. May 25 on a report of a shoplifter who ran from security. The suspect had selected three cartons of cigarettes and left the store. The man abandoned the cigarettes near Alameda Avenue and Yarrow Street as he ran from store security. A citizen witnessed the incident and followed the shoplifter in his car, and pointed him out to police near Wadsworth Boulevard and West First Avenue. The 45-year-old Wheat Ridge man was booked on suspicion of shoplifting and released on a summons.
