On Friday June 19, the Lakewood Police Department, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado State Patrol will be conducting a mobile DUI checkpoint in the city of Lakewood. Statistics indicate that a number of DUI arrests in Lakewood occur in the general vicinity of the selected locations.
The checkpoints will take place in the late night hours when statistically a high percentage of all DUI arrests take place.
The Lakewood Police Department is committed to reducing the number of drunk drivers and alcohol related accidents in the city of Lakewood.
"We want people to drive responsibly. We are committed to serving the public and to making our roadways safer," said Chief Kevin Paletta.
The approximate locations of the checkpoints are:
• Jewell Avenue between S. Moore Ct and S. Lee St.
• Colfax Avenue and Gray St.
• Sheridan Blvd and Mississippi Avenue.
