Police blotter: Lottery tickets stolen

Incidents reported by Lakewood Police

LOTTERY TICKETS STOLEN FROM 7-11
Police were called to 7-11, 8390 W. 14th Ave., at 9:53 p.m. June 3 on a report of a theft. The store manager told police that $600 worth of Colorado lottery scratch tickets had been stolen from her desk. She said a winning ticket from the stolen book had been activated at another 7-11 and identified the only employee who was working the night the books were stolen. When police questioned the 19-year-old Denver man, he initially denied taking the tickets but then admitted he had. He said he is a registered sex offender and he needed money to pay the fines from the incident. He redeemed about $20 from the stolen tickets. The man was issued a summons on suspicion of theft and released.

SKATEBOARDER BIT BY DOG
A report of a pit bull biting a 10-year-old boy brought police to the 10800 block of West Evans Avenue at 11:50 a.m. June 5. The boy was riding his skateboard on the sidewalk when the pit bull charged out of the yard and nipped the kid's ankle. The injury did not require medical treatment. The dog owner said he believed the skateboard caused the dog to charge. The 27-year-old Lakewood man was cited on suspicion of dog at large, possession of an aggressive animal and dog license required.

COMPUTER MONITORS STOLEN FROM OFFICE DEPOT
At 1:34 p.m. June 9, an officer parked at West Ohio Avenue and South Wadsworth Boulevard observed two Office Depot employees running toward the patrol car. The employees said three men had just stolen three computer monitors from the store and were driving away. The officer aired the information over the radio, and Belmar security located the car at South Vance Street and West Alaska Drive. When police contacted the suspects, they admitted to taking the computer monitors. Three flat-screen monitors, valued at a total of $570, were found in the vehicle. One of the suspects, a 28-year-old Denver man, was found to have an outstanding warrant. He was lodged at Jefferson County Jail. The other two men, a 23-year-old from Hot Sulphur Springs and a 23-year-old from Lakewood, were issued summonses on suspicion of theft.

YOU'RE NOT IN TEXAS ANYMORE
An officer parked on the north side of West Colfax Avenue observed a man urinating in the alley between Ames and Benton streets at 7:15 p.m. June 3. The man was in clear view of the traffic on Colfax and the nearby businesses. When the officer contacted the 48-year-old man, he said he lives in Austin, Texas, and in Texas, they urinate wherever they please. The man was issued a summons on suspicion of public urination.
