DRUNK MAN CAUSES RUCKUS IN MAGAZINE AISLE
Police responded to King Soopers, 1545 S. Kipling Parkway, at 5:34 p.m. June 20 on a report of a drunk man refusing to leave the store. The man had entered the store, went to the customer service counter and asked for a Powerball ticket and then did not pay for it. He then went to the magazine aisle and threw some magazines. When store employees asked if they could get him a cab, he refused and attempted to engage a female employee in a fight. The man refused to cooperate with police and it took multiple officers to restrain him. Since he was tall and heavily built, the man was placed in handcuffs and ankle cuffs. He continued to resist and yell threats at officers as he was transported to the hospital for medical clearance for a small laceration he got during the scuffle. The 47-year-old Golden man was issued summonses for disorderly conduct and obstruction of a peace officer and lodged at Jefferson County Jail.
PAINT DUMPED IN STREET
At 4 p.m. June 21, police were called to the 14100 block of West Amherst Avenue on the report of paint dumped in the street and running into a storm drain. Police observed light colored paint mixed with water running down the gutter into the drain. The 55-year-old Lakewood man with the paint said he had rinsed out his paint bucket and hosed it down because he "didn't know what else to do with it." He said he did not know it was illegal. He was issued a summons on suspicion of depositing debris in streams and waters.
BEER STOLEN FROM GROCERY STORE
The report of shoplifting brought police to King Soopers, 7984 W Alameda Ave., at 4:35 p.m. June 22. Store security said a man had walked out without paying for a 30-pack of Keystone Light under his cart. The estimated loss was $18.99. There was no further information at the time of the report.
ESCORT CITED FOR NOT HAVING LICENSE
At 9:11 p.m. June 17, police conducted a prostitution/escort sting operation at a Lakewood hotel. An undercover officer called a craigslist ad and arranged for a woman to meet him at the hotel. When she arrived, she agreed to perform a massage for a $200 fee and changed into lingerie. When uniformed officers entered the room, the woman said she is not a licensed massage therapist and does not have an escort license issued by the city of Lakewod. The 23-year-old Lakewood woman was given a summons on suspicion of not having an escort license.
