DRUNK SHOPPER ARRESTED FOR DUI
Police were called to Safeway, 13111 West Alameda Parkway, at 8:51 p.m. July 21 on a report of a drunk man in the store. Police observed the man walk out of the store, get into his car and drive onto West Mississippi Avenue. The car did not have its lights on, and police pulled over the man. He had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and an open bottle of vodka in his pocket. After failing roadside maneuvers, the 54-year-old Lakewood man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and lodged at the Jefferson County Jail.
GUNSHOTS HEARD ON BALCONY
Police responded to the 7800 block of West Mansfield Parkway at 2:30 a.m. July 15 on a report of gunshots. A woman told police she was awakened by her neighbors making noise while drinking on their balcony. She then heard multiple gunshots coming from the balcony, following by yelling. When police went to the residence, the door was unlocked. Three people were found in the bedroom, two women and one man. The 33-year-old Lakewood man said, "I am from Tennessee and it's legal to shoot a gun off there. We were only trying to have fun." He was issued a summons on suspicion of illegal discharging a firearm and lodged at detox.
TV STOLEN FROM SUB SHOP
At 2:40 p.m. July 19, police responded to Lenny's Sub Shop, 98 Wadsworth Blvd., on a report of a theft. The store manager told police that a 42-inch flat screen TV was missing from the storage room of the business. Security footage shows one of the store employees taking the TV out the rear exit door at 7:42 p.m. July 18. When police confronted the 40-year-old Lakewood man, he initially denied taking the TV but then admitted he took it to trade it to a drug dealer for drugs for his boyfriend. The value of the TV is estimated at $600. The man was issued a summons on suspicion of petty theft.
