"Awesome!" Golden Library reopens to hundreds of excited patrons
Open house marks the end of a six-week remodeling project
The Golden Library, located at 1019 Tenth St. in Golden, reopened Saturday, June 28, 2008, with 1,400 people stopping by to see how their much-loved library had changed.
Golden staff showed off the library's updated features, including a new self-checkout and holds pick-up area. Many patrons shared that they liked the new features and that they were happy to be able to come to the library.
"We are just as excited as our patrons to be open again," said Golden Library Manager Kim Tobler. "The improvements will make things easier for our patrons and our staff will be better able to serve library users."
While enjoying the new and improved library, patrons were treated to live music, storytimes, face painting and a balloon artist.
The Friends of the Library also hosted the "Goldfish of a Used Book Sale," raising more than $1,000 for Library children and teen reading programs.
