Taking the Classroom Outdoors

6th graders from Bethlehem Lutheran in Lakewood, along with 6th graders from Zion Lutheran in Brighton, completed 4 days and 3 nights of outdoor education at Camp Id Ra Ha Je in Bailey October 13-16. The students used the outdoors as their classroom to learn more about God's world and themselves. They experienced challenging tasks that are not available in the classroom and at the same time learned about their loving God and Savior through Bible study, group games, soil conservation, orienteering, safety/survival, archery, marksmanship, rappelling, climbing wall, low ropes, and other "outdoorsy" activities. Parent volunteers did an outstanding job as chaperones and it was a fantastic learning opportunity in the mountains!

Bethlehem Lutheran School and Early Learning Center provides an excellent Christian education from age 3 through 8th grade - www.bethlehemschool.org.
